Leather & Pitch Fire Bucket

19th Century

Dimensions: height,25cm; diameter, 30cm. SOLD

 

This splendid fire bucket, is a great talking-point and design object to grace any fireside or indeed any part of the home. It is made from thick leather, with the coat-of -arms painted on the front. The bucket is pitched inside to make it waterproof and durable. Originally it would have had a leather strap, but this is not longer present - the straps are subject to much wear and perish, so do not stand the test of time. 

 

This is a fun and highly decorative object.  (Reference: 518)
